COD:MW looks real, feels reall and sounds REAL! Its like a real war in Iraq or sumplace.I would still buy Crysis though...but first comes COD:MW !!!

Ah, I installed Leopard jus to see whats in, yes ofcourse its the hacked version but im just using it to see how leopard is.....Im still with the OLD FAITHFUL (windows xp) for playing games but i occasionally play UT:2004 on my leopard and it works like a charm.

RROD ? A new beggin....ending ?

HAR HAR ! Im the RED RING OF DEATH !

We all knew it was only a matter of time, and now it looks as if that time has come: Microsoft is implementing codename Falcon in order to reduce overheating in 360s and also greatly reduce the price of manafacturing costs which will translate to a long-overdue price drop across all SKU's. Not a moment too soon either, as Sony has already unwillingly announced the PSDoorstop is getting it's own price rolled back.

Now if only there was a way Microsoft could announce this price cut in a grand fashion, perhaps like a show or some kind of big press event, an expo perhaps. If only...

Hit the jump for all the sexy details and sexy impressions.*

*Note: May not be all that sexy.

Via The Mercury News:

Falcon is the name for the latest internal electronics in the Xbox 360. It will have an IBM microprocessor and an AMD/ATI graphics chip that are manufactured in a 65-nanometer production process. These are cost-reduced chips that do the same thing as their 90-nanometer predecessors, but they’re smaller.

With smaller chips, Microsoft gets a bunch of benefits. They won’t generate as much heat. So the risks of overheating — one of the main reasons behind Microsoft’s billion-dollar write-off for repairs and extended warranties — are much lower. The chips may also cost half of what it took to make them before because they use less material and fewer manufacturing steps to produce.

Everyone knows that console makers cut the prices and costs on their consoles over time. But you may not be aware that the primary chips – microprocessor, graphics, and the Ana video processing chip – are the bulk of the cost of the machine. Microsoft started making the Xbox 360s in August, 2005, with a 90-nanometer process. It is overdue to switch to the newest technology, 65 nanometers, but that day has finally come. It may be some time — a year, maybe two — before it moves on the a 45-nanometer process.

SO i guess, If you have the 65mm nano chip, you 'would' be somewhat in the safe zone.BTW microsoft is still fixing this issue and trying to make it disappear.

here's another source:

"Are you tired of sending your Xbox 360 in to Microsoft every time you get that damned RRoD? Well, if you’re good with electronics, you won’t have to. Introducing the X-Clamp Do-It-Yourself Fix Kit.

But wait, what does this fix kit do? First, you need to understand what exactly causes the RRoD in the first place. What many people believe is that the RRoD is caused when the solder connection between the GPU and the mainboard breaks, usually after a few months. This is caused because the clamp is not providing enough pressure on the heat sink to keep the motherboard connected to the GPU. What this kit does is replaces the x-shaped clamp with a more sturdy, stronger support to keep the pressure on the soldering, which will prevent it from breaking.

It’s an interesting solution to a widespread problem. However, unless you are good with your electronics, there is little to no point in doing this. Unless you’re really fed up with shipping coffin after coffin to Texas for repairs. If you’re curious, there’s a how-to video after the break."

Still crying ???...I got some good news for u Xbox 360 people :D

Microsoft didn’t want you to know about Falcon, and it certainly doesn’t want you to know about its successor Jasper. But that’s another secret we have to unveil.

Jasper is the code name for the next motherboard for the Xbox 360. It will becoming next August, in time for next year’s holiday season. Jasper is going to have a 65-nanometer graphics chip from ATI Technologies, as well as smaller memory chips. That isn’t much information, but it’s enough to tell us about their cost-reduction plan. If you ask me, it’s a bit of a slow pace.

I don’t know why it will take Microsoft essentially three years to cost reduce the size of the graphics chip through a manufacturing shrink. It doesn’t seem like they’re in a hurry to launch a redesigned Xbox 360 graphics chip, considering that Intel introduced its first 65-nm chips a long time ago. ATI uses TSMC to make its chips out of Taiwan, and TSMC hasn’t been the fastest at moving to 65-nm manufacturing. I understand these tasks are difficult and they take a lot of engineering resources. Microsoft has had to divert a lot of engineers to debugging problems with Xbox 360 reliability. Even so, you would think that they would have moved faster, since the move to 65-nm graphics chip will likely be one of the best things they can do to improve the reliability.

As readers of this blog know, Falcon is being used in Xbox 360s that are currently rolling off the production lines. It has a 65-nm IBM microprocessor on it, instead of the previous 90-nm version. It also has built-in HDMI. It carries lower costs than the previous motherboard, but not dramatically so. And Falcon has a 90-nm graphics chip on it.

Here’s something that Xbox 360 buyers will want to know. Both Falcon and its predecessor Zephyr (used in the Xbox 360 Elite) have different thermal solutions than the original Xbox 360. You’ve seen the heat sinks in the cut-out photos posted elsewhere. The Microsoft engineers believe those heat sinks will be sufficient as a solution for keeping Xbox 360s from overheating. From their point of view, you don’t have to wait until Jasper to get a reliable machine.

From a neutral point of view, I would guess that Jasper would be more reliable than Falcon on heat issues, and Falcon will be more reliable than its predecessors. The Falcon board has the same old 90-nm graphics chip on it. And many have pointed out that the big heat problem in the Xbox 360 is due to the graphics chip. The Falcon board will likely give off less heat. But the real serious heat saver looks like it will come with Jasper.

I’m sure that Jasper will carry lower costs than Falcon. That’s because it will have a smaller graphics chip and smaller memory chips as well. That translates into material savings, which means lower costs. If you’re wondering why you should care? Maybe you don’t need to care. But there are folks on the Falcon thread who want to know this kind of information and here it is. Certainly, Microsoft will be in a position to cut prices again by next August. If you recall, after it got Falcon out the door, Microsoft cut $50 off the price of the Xbox 360.

If I were Microsoft, I would try to pull in the date of Jasper as soon as possible. What they need right now is a lower cost so that they can be more competitive against the Wii and so they leave no openings for Sony. As of now, the 65-nm graphics chip isn’t done. They’re still working on it. Microsoft declined to comment, other than to say that it constantly updates the components in the Xbox 360 but doesn’t comment on them.

NOD32 Version 2.7

I purchased ESEt's NOD32 anti-virus software for KD 1
5
Its thee most powerful anti-virus I've seen yet and its outbreak updates are really fast. Its really easy 2 use ( for tech users ) and it cant be hacked or crack ! yes ! you can create a log in name and password for nod32 with the serial key.Once a login name and password is created the serial key is tied to your account and no1 else can use the same serial key. Here are some reviews.

Ease of Use:

We found the Control Center layout and modules a little bit confusing. The terminology is very technical; however, a techie would love the customization abilities and scanning power of Nod32.

Effectiveness:

The most important function of antivirus software is to detect and block viruses, and Nod32 does an excellent job. This software received the VB100% award in June 2007, was certified by ICSA in 2007 and passed the level 1 & 2 Checkmark from West Coast Labs.

Updates:

NOD32 claims that they detected and blocked big-gun viruses like CIH, Melissa, LoveLetter long before the competition. The team in the ESET virus lab is extremely fast and good at analyzing viruses and releasing blocks and fixes. Nod32 updates virus definitions “As Needed.”

Feature Set:

Nod32 is designed for more advanced users with plenty of customization features. Nevertheless we wouldn't discourage the average home user from using this product-it just may take some time to learn everything.

Nod32 has two different ways to run the program. You can run a simple Nod32 scan or you can spend more time using the control center. Within the control center you can have access to tons of customiztion feature and differnet types of scans-DMON, IMON, EMON and more. Here is an overview of the different scans:

  • AMON - the resident (running in operating memory at all times) or "on-access" antivirus monitor. This program is the most crucial antivirus defense tool.
  • NOD32 (also referred to as the "on-demand" scanner) - this is the scanner executed manually by the user, or automatically by the scheduler.
  • IMON - this scanner provides the first line of defense by monitoring Internet traffic (SMTP, ftp, http and other Winsock protocols).
  • EMON - the Nod32 Mail Scanner provides protection from email-borne viruses.
  • DMON - scans Microsoft office documents and files directly downloaded from Internet Explorerer.

Ease of Installation:

The installation process allows you to do a typical installation, some customization or an advanced install that gives you control over all the default functions. We didn't have any problems with the installation process.

Help/Support:

The program offers helpful documentation in the form of manuals and FAQs. The email support is excellent and they responded to our email within 30 minutes. Additionally, the manufacturer offers 24/7 phone support.

Summary:

Nod32 is a first-rate antivirus program that offers several levels of superior protection. However, the product is somewhat hard to understand because of the technical jargon and wouldn't be my first choice for the average home user.

Mac OSX and Windows Vista ? who won ? and who do i use ?

If you go to most houses today its common to find a windows pc ( usually with xp )....
Why is that ? ..cuz windows has compatibility and most software developers have been hooked on to windows. Now for a MAC, hmmmm lets see there.Well macs have been around for some time, not VERY popular but its a good system. There are increasing numbers of mac users now days and its all Microsoft's fault. YES ..I did say Microsoft, why ? Simply because of Vista.

Vista looks amazing, the aero theme the layout, the dx 10 for game compatibility but come on! Who needs the windows defender program to keep asking u stupid questions about running apps and stuff...thats so fucking irritating isn't it ? Vista's release was a good one but Microsoft released it too EARLY ?
Well, it looks kinda early for me because most of the people with vista are facing problems with various old appz and devices ! not to forget the driver problem. Microsoft needs to get thier game together really fast.Im not saying Vista sucks but some parts of it DO REALLY Suck to get you MAD !
I think among all the windows os i used, Windows XP Service Pack 2 proved more stable.Im a windows and a MAC fanboy (is that possible ?) but really Vista for me NOW ? no !
Im happy with my windows xp sp2, I can play all my games and stuff + use some old appz that cannot run in Vista.
Ill tell you what I LOVE WINDOWS XP SP2 ! I think thats one of the most easiest os ive used and its simple ...it can detect drivers and it doesnt keep asking u questions like in vista (*Stupid windows defender !!! *).I love windows for Rendering and stuff, u can really tweak or add more hardware components ! I love to modify and using Xp as a platform is simply Awsome !
Its not limit like a mac.Office and Visual Basic are some lovely appz for windows I use.Basically using windows for work is simple and easy ( you can get microsoft office for mac too :) )

Now to a MAC...
Dont expect me going all for a Mac now since I said shit stuff about Windows Vista.
Mac's are really ! I mean REALLY good 'IN SOME ASPECTS'.Lets see here, they hardly have any viruses which is quite true.Ive never heard a report of sum1 getting a virus on a mac.
Macs are very easy to handle and lemme guess I think u already know about the EYE CANDY and the easy USER interface which makes ure eyes STARE at a mac.

Mac's ALSO have some bad aspects ( Like Chris Pirillo said : " all OS sucks " ).
I dont like mac for one thing.
They come in packed PC's ... I mean u cant Configure ure mac to ure system specs because the macs cant recognize any other hardware component other than its certified componets and yes although they may look clean cuz they dont need to many wires like a normal pc's there is hardly anything u could do to tweak them. And after sale service is kinda ehh.....U break something and its w00t "remove ure money please :) ".And many of the currently used apps are not compatable but they are bieng made compatable nowdays.I love mac OSX because its driver friendly where it can detect and install automatically ( i think it has all drivers for all devices like printers, scanner, etc ).
Now who cant forget MAC OSX while keeping in mind multimedia ??
Music + Videos + Making videos + Pictures + ....
Video editing and Picture editing are best done on a mac :) and u can now run windows xp or any other OS on a mac.You can also play new games for windows on a mac using Cider :) ( BTW..I play my games on my xp ) well u wont get the max performance but u can still play. You can also run windows appz on a mac using 3rd party softwares :)

Remmeber one thing ill say about windows and mac

Macs are like Exotic Cars where its fast, looks simply HAWT !!! you could add some few things to it and it has good Parts but if u break it or damage some parts then u gotta spend the BUCK.

Windows are like simple City Cars or tuner cars...Easy to use, they dont look soo hawt, you can drive it easy and they arent so fast.
But with big bucks....U could cuztomize it to Look SWEET, Run FAST and add monstrous DEADLY parts which could beat up any exotic car anyday !

(lol not forgetting LINUX ! :D )

Linux are Muscle cars....Now i dont have to tell you what muscle cars are ;P !
eg: Ford Mustang GT :P !! u can tweak your hardware to the limitz ! and become a road demon !

Vista vs Mac OSX ... who won ?
I have to say MAC OSX for now because of its ease of use and stability...cuz u hardly even get to reboot like how u do with Vista. Its stable and fun . I like it !
But If the Vista SP1 proves itself then maybe, i would change my choice !

Do i actually own a MAC computer...no .... I dont like limited hardware cuz it really sucks !
I use my own custom CPU !
DO i have a MAC OSX operating system....yeah d0h !

10 Things NOT to do while u work inside your CPU.

Ok! My friend was handling his CPU the other day, he wanted to insert more ram modules. He opened it as usual and peeked inside. The power was off and he touches the gpu and guess what happens ?

His GPU gets fried by static...w0000t..thats a bummer ! LOL

Ok so Ill give u some important tips on handling your CPU:

1)NEVER...never eat while handling your hardware components..I would wonder which dumbass would be so stupid to eat and drink while handling components.Food particles or liquid would (**BY MISTAKE** or if u want to kill your pc purposely) enter you pc and Pwssshh..

2)Please wear an ANTI-STATIC wrist band....this is the most safest way to handle components...
You lower the risk of getting static while handling .Even if you handle your parts without using a anti-static band and u dont feel anything ? believe ME it gets an amount of static and then your hardware degrades. You will come 2 a point where BSODs will start showing up.

3)Never touch parts in your pc while the CPU is running..You are in risk of getting shock or a jolt.( I got it once .... w000t ).

4)Never pull your parts out in force...I mean come ON man ?!@ You paid for that piece of hardware and if it doesnt come out then try slowly or there must be a way to remove it . ( Refer to motherboard or case manuals )

5)Never expose your CPU to Cold Air or Humid Conditions....Static builds up with more humidity or cold.Try keeping your room nice and pleasant or warm but do not open your windows fully in winter . ( You can open your windows in winter if your case is closed ).

6)Make sure you clean your CPU after every 6 months on using it...Dust collects and builds up inside and clogss the fan...if you dont trust me go see for yourself.
To clean your CPU ..Get a can of compressed air or you could always use a hairdrying ( with cold blower).BTW while using the compressed air ...spray it once or twice on a cloth to check for any liquid particles ..

7) If you cant afford an anti-static wrist band then try holding the psu at the back of your cpu or hold the CPU case frame so that the static passes and circulates.
Remmember always hold ure hardware components by the edges and not like a freakin CARD or sumthing...

Well thats it. I hope this was interesting.

Come back here for more Tech Related Stuff :D

How to play Crysis while taking down lil'Gfx

Well when Crysis was released it was a major hit and yes all credits to crytek for making a real intense fps game. When I first thought of Crysis, I was wondering if my PC could play it and I was real happy to see it did and also at Medium settings :)

Well the bad part is Crysis didnt support 2 Cores yet( I still have to research on that).
And I think crytek jus went overboard with graphics because even the strongest quad-core pcs have a lil problem handling it smoothly.

On my pc Crysis was playable...at around 30-50 fps ( at custom settings).
I'm much more of a Graphics to Res geek, in other words i like balancing Crystal Clear Res with Quality Graphics.

Well here are my PC specs..(click to enlarge)

Ok ... moving on to 'my' Gameplay. I really dont know about ATI cards but since I have an Nvidia gfx card I use forceware which is a good control center for ure GPU.
If u go to manage 3d settings in ure nvidia control panel u would find 3 options :
Performance - Balanced - Quality

Quality: gives you more of that smoothness and more shaders
Balanced: is...what the name suggests
Performance:Will give u ok kinda eyecandy but will boost ure FPS in games.

Please note: If ure comp is better than mine...obviously it has better FPS.

Ok now for those people whose comps have kinda low specs or lower than mine.
This is how to get good gameplay in crysis.
Quality in Crysis depends in what processor , ram and GPU u have.

Step1: ( only for nvidia...ATI help will come lator on )
1)Go to your Nvidia Control panel and click on Manage 3d settings ( ps Download the latest forceware from www.nvidia.com )

2)Put 3D settings on Performance

3) click apply.

Now open Crysis ..

1)Go to System > Graphics > advanced

2)Now its really upto u to set it up because i dont have your pc so i cant tell you what to do . But this is basically how i play my crysis on .

Try customizing ure Gfx settings to yield better results :D .
I would suggest changing volumetric, post processing , water and sound...even shadows to some extent.
BTW removing shadows greatly increases your FPS. :)

Have fun...Oh yea remmeber to upgrade your pc :)
